Latest studies have shown that text messages while driving is becoming a common cause in car accident throughout the United States. Recent studies have shown that text messaging is just as dangerous as driving after having a few alcoholic beverages. The majority of people that are driving with texting are young people with very fews behind the wheel. A Harvard study indicated that drivers using cell phones are 4-5 times more likely to be involved in a auto accident than non-users.
Last month the New York State Senate has passed measures that would make text messages illegal while operating a motor vehicle. The bill was sent to the assembly and the penalty would be a $100.00 fine. New York State was the first state to take the initiative to make it illegal to use a cell phone while driving.
